Yes, a busy couple of months coming up as we join PADS (Penshurst Am Dram Soc) for their forthcoming production of Jim Cartwright’s “TWO” at the end of the month before relaunching VOICES open mic with a Valentine-themed special on February 12th.
First things first, TWO is a highly acclaimed comi-tragic drama set in busy pub peopled with a bickering landlord and landlady, and a collection of regulars with interesting stories to tell. No, it’s not like the Queen Vic or the Rovers Return, but it does capture an era when pubs were at the very epicentre of community life. This production features Peppy Scott (our very own “Pam Flitt”) cast completely against type as a a somewhat blowsy woman-on-a-mission with a fondness for alcohol. She also takes a role in one of two short plays by David Smith (“our Ivor”) that precede the main event.
Tickets are available now, and you would not be disappointed if you bought some.
For our Voices event in February we are delighted to invite our ol’ mucker Paul Stepto to co-host as the third in our Gluten-free Trio. Far from being a GF3 show, however, the evening offers an open mic for wordsmiths in all genres, be it comedy, spoken word, flash-fiction, song, or – well ANYTHING! Basically, if you’ve got original words we would love to hear them, and 3 – 5 minute slots will be offered in rotation, with us coordinating and filling any gaps for continuity. There is, in keeping with the date and month, a very loose theme of “love”, but feel free to think outside of the usual romantic box.
TIX are available NOW, and the very reasonable cover price involved for admin purposes will be redeemable for food and drink orders. Woo-hoo!
