As mentioned in the last post here, our Voices open mics have been on the back boiler for a while as we concentrated on other projects, so we were absolutely delighted by the turnout for our relaunch at Charlie’s Angel’s Kitchens recently. A packed house, friends old and new, and a mixed bag that included heaps of original material in just about every form that words can take.
We’ll be back at Charlie’s in April, and hopeful that even greater heights will be scaled as word spreads.
Before that, however, we have another new venue to fill with joy and laughter as we haul our PA to the Taproom Tunbridge Wells on March 12th, when we’ll be taking Time Marches On (see what we did there?) as the theme for our shenanigans. As always, we’ll be leaving that title wide open for interpretation, so whether you’re a Boomer or an Alpha (or somewhere in between) we’ll be glad to hear your take on it.
While flying this first Taproom event under the Voices banner, we’re planning something a little different in the longer term, with guest features and hosting duties shared with some of the very talented people who have supported and inspired us over the years. Newcomers will of course be welcome in the open mics, but with the added incentive that a wider opportunity for a full set could be in the offing as hosts.
If you came to Charlie’s and loved it, do come to the Taproom and love that too, and if you haven’t been to a Flitt and Folio / Gluten-free Trio / Voices event yet, do come along and say hello and find out what you’ve been missing! Whether as performer or audience, all comers are made very welcome.
