Oh, what fun we had at Charlie’s Angels Kitchens last week! Our Voices open mic featured friends old and new, and a lovely mixed bag it was too, with spoken words, words in song, and even some instrumental sax music that spoke to us in other ways – a Voices first, for sure. Voices will be back at Charlie’s in November, and between now and then we have our Halloween Special bash to look forward to at the Mad Dog Brewery Taproom on October 29th.
Voices aside, The Gluten-free Trio has heaps of other stuff going on, including our headliner acoustic set at Tonbridge Folk Club (“Nellie’s”) on Monday 21st September, and a full all-bells-and-whistles show as part of the brand-spanking-new Paddock Wood Festival on Friday October 9th. While details are yet to be confirmed, we will also feature in the festival’s opening and closing ceremonies, so watch this space for more info.
In poetry news, Flitt & Folio will be joining forces with Charlie Bell and Active Hearts and Minds on Thursday 24th to launch Charlie’s latest pamphlet “Sheep on the Brain”, with further collaborations in the offing too. As with above, “watch this space”.
So there you have it, a quick roundup of the main events we’ll be showing off at over the next couple of months. It’s not an exhaustive list as we have yet to confirm some dates and times, but we’ll be sure to keep you informed. For the musicians among you, it goes without saying that the floor spots at Nellie’s offer a great opportunity to showcase your (acoustic only) talents, alongside some of the best musicians on the folk circuit. And us, chancers that we are.
